A 3-hour drive from Dallas, Austin makes for a great weekend getaway spot. Different enough to get a break from the everyday routine, but familiar enough to not have to overthink it. (hopefully).
BRUNCH | Paperboy
A brunch spot that pays the same attention to the taste of food as they do to the presentation, Paperboy brings all the aesthetics for a cute brunch. Sip your orange juice in their modern space with a rooftop patio. Fair warning – plan accordingly cause this place stays busy! Snag a resy or be prepared to (potentially) wait some time.
Want a classic? Go with their pancake. It is one pancake- but don’t let that drive you away. Made with cornmeal, be sure that this jumbo pancake will meet all of your brunch needs.
Curious about something a little more unique? The Texas Hash is the way to go! A pork and sweet potato hash that brings in that salty & sweet flavor brought together with their pecan mole.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITY | Mural Hunting
No matter your budget, there are so many things to do in Austin! One that we enjoy is taking in all the street art around the city. Mural Hunting is a perfect way to do this. Don’t know where to start? Check out Visit Austin’s – “Best Murals Of Austin” post to get a full list of just some of the murals in town.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITY | Hike Mount Bonnell
Just a short hike, Mount Bonnell has mesmerizing views of downtown and Lake Austin. It is great for taking pictures and for an adventurous date. Fair warning – it is 102 steps up however, you can go at your own pace and rest at the top. Make sure you bring some water to stay hydrated.
Hours: 5 a.m. – 10 p.m.
DINNER | Ramen Tatsu-ya
Wrap up the day with some noodles at Ramen Tatsu-ya. The OG or the Mi-So-Hot is our go-to. Parking is a little tight so some strategy might need to be involved.
Location: 1234 S Lamar Blvd Austin, TX 78704
